ECF’s research indicates that while there is occasionally a tendency to treat Surrey as a homogeneous entity given its political colour nationally, there are ultimately wide disparities between each of the boroughs when it comes to planning consent rates, with it being easy to distinguish between ‘high-rate’, ‘midrate’ and ‘low-rate’ consenters.
The following table shows the number of consents, refusals and deferrals of planning decisions across all 11 councils.
